Getting to Detroit

What airport should I fly into?

Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW) is the closet airport. From there it is about a 25-30 minute drive to Detroit. You can rent a car at the airport or use rideshare services, such as Lyft and Uber, to get to Detroit.

Accommodations

Hotel Room Block

The bride and groom have secured a block of hotel rooms at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center (400 Renaissance Drive West, Detroit). Please use the link below to book your stay!

I've never been to an Indian wedding, what should I wear?

Indian weddings are joyful festive occasions, so colorful outfits are highly encouraged! You are welcome to wear Indian clothing or Western clothing. There is no expectation that you wear Indian clothing; the bride and groom want you to wear what you feel comfortable in! You'll want to pick something you can dance in, since that's what you'll be doing a lot of! When attending the Indian portions of the wedding celebration, avoid the color black and also the color red (as that is the color the bride traditionally wears). If you have more questions, ask the bride or her wedding planner, they are happy to help!

What colors should I avoid?

Traditionally, the bride wears white for a Catholic/American wedding ceremony, so it is advised not to wear this color. For Hindu/Punjab wedding ceremonies the bride typically wears red, so it is best to avoid wearing the same color. In Indian culture, black is another color to avoid for wedding celebrations. However, black is an acceptable color to wear to the American wedding events, such as the Catholic Wedding and Cocktail Party on Friday.

Help! I don't understand the dress code.
